The University

Xavier University Bhubaneswar (XUB) is a private university established in accordance with the Xavier University, Odisha Act, 2013.  It consists of six schools: Xavier Institute of Management (XIMB), Xavier School of Human Resource Management (XaHR), Xavier School of Rural Management (XSRM), Xavier School of Sustainability (XSOS), Xavier School of Commerce (XSOC), and Xavier School of Communications (XCOMM).

Q. How can the application form for XUB programs be filled up?

XUB application form can be filled up through online mode only. You will therefore need access to an internet enabled computer to apply to our program(s).

Q. I am in the final year of my Bachelor’s degree program, can I apply to XUB now?

Yes, you may apply to XUB’s master’s program even if you are in the final year of Bachelor’s degree program; subject to completing the final part of the degree examinations by June 15, 2017 and expecting your final results by September 30, 2017 with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate.

Q. Is there a maximum age limit for applicants?

No, age is not a factor for the prospective applicants.

Q. What is the desired length of work experience for candidates opting for MBA in XUB?

Work experience is not mandatory to apply for regular MBA program(s) in XUB, whereas for executive MBA applicants need to have minimum 3 years of work experience in executive capacity in an organization of repute in the public, private or non-governmental sector.

Q. I want to apply for more than one program at XUB. What is the process?

You can surely apply for more than one program at XUB, but you will have to choose the individual programs and test options accordingly in the program details section of the online application form. You can also apply for one program through different tests (e.g. XAT, CAT, GMAT & X-GMAT) by filling the program details section accordingly. The total application fee will be calculated automatically. You need to use single form for applying to multiple programs and/or applying through multiple tests.

Q. Do I have to get ready with any documents before filling the online application form?

Yes, before filling up the online application form get ready with a valid email ID, academic credentials, work related data, and the digital copy (in prescribed size/pixel format) of your pass port size photograph and signature.

Q. Can I apply for MBA program of XUB before applying for XAT/CAT/GMAT?

No, you can’t. This is because the XAT/CAT/GMAT registration ID will be required to fill the XUB application form.  So XAT/CAT/GMAT registration is a prerequisite for applying to MBA program(s) of XUB, if not opting for X-GMAT only.

Q. What is X-GMT? How can I apply for X-GMT?

X-GMT ( is the online admission test for MBA & executive MBA programs conducted by XUB at different locations such as, Bengaluru, Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bhubaneswar. You can apply for X-GMT by opting for program(s) through X-GMT test option in the program details page, while filling the online application form. There is no separate form for X-GMT.

Q. I am a College/Institute/University rank holder in my Bachelor’s degree. Can I apply directly for MBA programs of XUB, without CAT/XAT/GMAT?

If you are a 1st/2nd/3rd position holder at University/College/Institute level, subject to the eligibility criteria, you can apply for MBA-RM and MBA-UMG programs only, without CAT/XAT/GMAT registration.

Q. Can I edit the application form after submitting?

No, once you submit the filled application form, editing of data is not possible. However, if the application fee is paid towards the originally submitted form, you may add any new program(s)/admission test(s) in the program details page and pay the additional amount as required. This facility can be used only once.

Q. Do I need to send any hardcopy (e.g. my academic transcripts/mark sheets, printed copy of the application form, other documents and photographs) to XUB after applying online successfully?

No, you need not send any hardcopy of the documents/credentials to XUB after registering successfully unless intimated.

Interviews/Result

Q. Do you conduct GD/PI as a part of the admission process?

As a part of the admission process, all shortlisted candidates will have to appear for WAT (Writing Ability Test) followed by Personal Interview. There is no group discussion.

Q. Where can I find the interview shortlist?

The list of candidates shortlisted on the basis of admission test score will be announced on our websites, i.e., http://www.ximb.ac.in , http://www.xub.edu.in , during the first week of February (tentative).

Q. Can I choose my interview location?

Yes, while filling the online application form you have to choose one city from the list. XUB conducts interviews in various cities, such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai and Bhubaneswar.

Q. Where will I get information on the final selection?

Selected candidates will be notified by email and letter individually.  Also, candidates can check their status (whether selected/waitlisted/not selected) from our websites (http://www.ximb.ac.in , http://www.xub.edu.in).

Q. How does the admission waiting list function in XUB?

Candidates who are placed in the waiting list, need to indicate acceptance of the offer by paying a certain amount (which will be adjusted with the course fee, if converted, otherwise the full amount will be refunded). Accordingly, the actual waiting list movement will be updated from time to time & will be posted in our websites i.e. http://www.ximb.ac.in , http://www.xub.edu.in

Admission

Q. How can I get the admission bulletin?

All the selected candidates will get the Admission Bulletin-2017 at their (present) address by post/courier, which will be dispatched after announcement of the results. Candidates may also download the same from our websites (http://www.ximb.ac.in , http://www.xub.edu.in).

Q. Is there any state quota for admission?

Yes, fifty percentage of seats are reserved for the Odisha domicile category candidates.

Q. Can I request deferment of my admission?

No, there is no provision for deferment of admission. The conditions for accepting the admission offer will be mentioned in the admission offer letter. On non-fulfillment of the same, the admission offer will automatically stand cancelled.

Fees

Q. How much is the application fee?

The application fee is INR 1300/- for the first choice/option, INR 800/- for the second, INR 600/- each for every subsequent program or test option. INR 1000/- will be extra for choosing X-GMT.

Q. What are the educational loan options available to XUB students?

A substantial number of our current students have availed educational loans from nationalized banks. SBI is the major bank providing study loans to XUB students. Also, students have availed loans from other banks like Central Bank of India, Union Bank of India etc.

The facilities include deferred payment options, in which repayment starts after the candidates start earning etc. However, the agreement is between the bank and the student directly.

 

Hostel

 

Q. Are hostels compulsory for students taking admission for MBA in XUB?

Yes, as our MBA programs are residential, hostels are compulsory for all the students taking admission to MBA programs in XUB. Whereas for the other Doctoral, Executive program & Bachelor’s degree programs, stay in hostel is optional.

Miscellaneous

Q. How many campuses are there for XUB? How far they are from important destinations?

XUB has two campuses; the 29 years old XIMB campus and the new Xavier City campus. The distance of the XIMB and the new campus from Bhubaneswar railway station is 8 kilometers & 17 kilometers respectively and from Biju Pattnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar, it is 10 kilometers & 15 kilometers respectively.

Q. What are the facilities available at XUB?

The XIMB campus and the new Xavier city campus are situated in 20 acres & 35 acres of well-maintained compact campuses with all the facilities befitting a world-class B-School. Both the campuses house air-conditioned class rooms with audio visual facility and LCD projectors, spacious libraries with over 60,000 books and subscribe to over 12,000 journals (including electronic journals), separate hostels for boys & girls in the premise with LAN nodes in every rooms, Mess facility with vegetarian & non-vegetarian meals, hi-tech air-conditioned auditorium of 850 people seating capacity, management development center, Studio apartment, 24-hour internet connectivity through the latest Wi-Fi technology , 360 MBPS leased line internet support, round-the-clock printing & copying facility, campus doctor and ambulance for 24x7 aid, security guards and CCTV surveillance.

The recreational facilities include cricket & soccer fields, floodlit basketball & lawn tennis courts, indoor badminton hall, gymnasium, jogging tracks etc.

Q. What about the faculty strength in XUB?

There are approximately 100 full-time faculty members in XUB; along with eminent visiting faculty members who form a strong base for its intellectual capital.

Q. What are the specializations available for MBA-BM?

A student can specialize in any one or two areas among Finance, Marketing, Operations Management and Information Systems. There is no limit on the number of students specializing in any area.

Q. Is a Laptop Computer mandatory for a student of XUB?

It is mandatory to possess a laptop, while you are a student of the MBA program of XUB.

Q. Does XUB offer distance education program?

No, XUB does not offer any distance education program. All programs are full-time at XUB.

Q. What is the Placement scenario at XUB?

There is a Career Advisory Services cell, which facilitates for the campus recruitment of all students. The placement week is normally around the first week of January, when various companies are invited to recruit the students. Around 89 companies had visited XUB during 2016.

The highest domestic salary offered to the batch of 2016 was INR 20 Lakh, INR 19 Lakh, INR 11.38 Lakh p.a. for MBA-BM, MBA-HRM & MBA-RM respectively. And the average salary was INR 12.44 Lakh, INR 11.50 Lakh, INR 7.21 Lakh p.a. for MBA-BM, MBA-HRM & MBA-RM respectively. You may also refer to our home page http://www.ximb.ac.in for more details.

Q. When are the Admission Test cut-off marks announced?

The cut-off marks for various programs are decided and announced by the first week of February. Please refer to the website during that period for details.
